Mariama Toupey


Hello, my name is Mariama Toupey Diallo, I am 20 years old and I will be a 1st year freshman at Bishop University in Criminology. I played basketball in cegep at Montmorency and will be playing for one of the best team in Quebec next year. Basketball is a sport that brought a lot of positive things in the past 10 years of my life . It allowed me to meet new people, receive multiple traveling experiences and of course a safe place to unwind and I am very thankful for that.

Thank you to Women's basketball fund for their support in paying for my tuition. Also, I am very thankful for the trust they’re putting in me by giving me this tuition to be able to continue to growth in this sport. In addition, I would like to thank them for helping and supporting women basketball.solution to the financial problems experienced by many student athletes who wish to study at university whilst also pursuing their athletic career, but who unfortunately lack the financial resources to pay their university fees, accommodation, travel and even their food.


Introduction

Meet Mariama, a remarkable athlete who embodies the values and mission of The Women's Basketball Fund. Starting 2023, Mariama will begin attending Bishops University, home to one of Quebec's most competitive basketball teams and programs in Canada.

Early Beginnings

Mariama hails from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her connection to basketball was established at a young age. It was in the vibrant streets of Montreal where her remarkable journey as a basketball player took flight. Mariama's undeniable talent and dedication has always set her apart. She's quickly became a notable talent, and recognized name throughout her community, setting the stage for an extraordinary future prospects.

Achievements

Throughout Mariama's career, she has consistently demonstrated her prowess as an athlete, earning accolades and recognition. Some of her notable achievements include:

Top 3 Rebounders in the League: Mariama's exceptional ability to secure rebounds has consistently ranked her among the top three players in the league. Her tenacity on the court is unmatched, and her rebounding skills have been pivotal to her team's success.

Top 5 in Steals: Mariama's defensive skills are equally impressive. Her ability to read the game, anticipate opponents' moves, and execute steals has consistently placed her among the top five players in steals in the league.

Top 10 in Minutes Played: Mariama's dedication to her team is evident in the substantial amount of time she spends on the court. Her consistent presence in games and her ability to make an impact, even in high-pressure situations, have earned her a spot among the top ten players in minutes played.

Off the Court

Beyond her exceptional skills on the basketball court, Mariama is an individual deeply committed to her community and those around her. Her journey isn't solely defined by her accomplishments on the court but also by her character and the positive impact she makes off the court.

Our Support.

Over 4 years during Mariama's schooling The Women's Basketball Fund will be providing Mariama with yearly financial support of $3,000 for 4 years, a total of $12,000.

Fnancial support will go towards supporting Mariama's textbooks and supplies, rent and meals. We invite you to stay tuned for updates on Mairama's journey as she continues to break barriers, lead by example, and champion the cause of women in sports.
